About

John E. Foley, Ph.D., is an independent teacher, writer, scholar, and consultant in ethics, with an emphasis on science, technology, and society; workforce diversity; and leadership and management.

Foley’s academic training is in physics (BS) and nuclear engineering (MS, PhD).

Foley worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 25 years (1969-1993) where he held positions as a research scientist, a technical manager, and the Director of Human Resources. It was while he was the Director of Human Resources from 1986-1993 that he became deeply involved in ethics, diversity, and trust building.

In November 1993, Foley left Los Alamos to concentrate on developing and teaching new approaches to trust building in the workplace, based on ethical theory and practice. He taught classes in “Diversity in the Workplace” and “Everyday Ethics” at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos and has given training seminars at universities, corporations, and government agencies.
